Tis the Season for Summer Night Markets!

Latest Newsletter

The ‘Marches Festifs de Producteurs de Pays’, or more simply the ‘semi-nocturnal farmers’ markets’ are a summer event not to be missed!

What are they are, and what do you do?

At each night market you’ll discover a variety of stalls provided by local artisans and farmers, selling a range of produce, including meats, salads, breads, wines, beer and much more. These are usually arranged around plenty of very long communal tables.

You’ll need to take your own cutlery, plates, glasses and napkins (go all out if you like and take a tablecloth – some do). Then you simply buy whatever you fancy, take your meat to one of the barbecues where kindly folks will cook it for you, find a spot on one of the tables, and enjoy your picnic.

There’s always a wonderful community atmosphere and often live music. (I’ve marked those I know will have live music with an asterisk below.)

So, if you’re here over summer, we’d definitely recommend experiencing a night market, which is such a quintessential part of summer in France.

To encourage you, here’s a list of the events we know are scheduled within about 30 minutes of La Porcherie – and we even provided an easy to carry picnic hamper!
